Sculptor David Hayes, whose work is held in significant public and private collections throughout the United States and Europe, lived and worked for much of his career on a historic farm in Coventry, Connecticut. The family residence, known as Stonewalls, is listed on the Connecticut Register of Historic Places.
Today, the David Hayes Art Foundation stewards this landscape as a site for the presentation of the artist’s work. Sculptures are installed throughout the grounds, extending from an old orchard and pond to two expansive hayfields, and the areas surrounding the house and barn. These works are situated within a cultivated yet informal environment of herbs, wildflowers, ferns, wild irises, heirloom roses, and seasonal plantings established by the artist’s wife, Julia Hayes.
Visitors are invited to experience the grounds through self-guided walking tours. A map may be printed in advance here. Admission is free. Contributions are welcomed and directly support the ongoing care and preservation of the site. Photography is permitted and encouraged.
Private tours may be arranged in advance by calling 607-353-9000 or by contacting the Foundation at [email protected].
